Dr. HASAN ASKARI MOHAMMED NAZMUL AHASAN
MBBS, FCPS, FRCP (Glasgow), FRCP (Edin), MACP

H.A.M. Nazmul Ahasan obtained MBBS in 1982 and FCPS (Internal Medicine) in 1988. He received fellowships (FRCP) from Royal College of Physicians Glasgow and Edinburgh in 2001 and 2005 respectively. He received Fellowship from American College of Physicians in 2003. He has been honored with Mastership of American College of Physicians (MACP) in 2016.


Currently, HAM NAZMUL AHASAN is Professor of Medicine of Popular Medical College, Dhaka. Prior to this, he served as Professor and Head of the Department of Medicine of Dhaka Medical College for 7 years and Khulna Medical College for 5 years. Under his leadership undergraduate and post graduate medical education program of Dhaka Medical College reached a remarkable height. He is an enthusiastic mentor for many post graduate physicians and guided more than fifty thesis and dissertations. Presently he is The Chairman of Faculty of Family Medicine, and also served as the Chairman of Faculty of Medicine (from 2015 to 2018) of Bangladesh College of Physicians and Surgeons (BCPS).

He is one of the pioneers in the field of clinical research in Bangladesh. He is author and co-author of 224 articles published in national and International journals. He has immense interest in research on Infectious diseases and clinical toxicology. He has been Editor in chief of the prestigious Journal of Bangladesh College of Physicians and Surgeons for 4 years and journal of Medicine for 10 years. He also contributed in formulating the National guidelines for the diagnosis & management of Dengue, Influenza, H1N1 and COVID-19.

He has been Elected as Governor, Bangladesh chapter of American College of Physicians (2019-2022). He was president of Bangladesh Society of Medicine for 2014-15 and also, served as the Chairman, Scientific committee, Bangladesh Society of Medicine (2016-18). He was one of the Members of, Bangladesh Pharmacy Council (2018-19). Presently, he is a member of Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council (BMDC).

Bangladesh Academy of science has awarded him with the prestigious ‘Sultan Ahmed Chawdhury’ Gold Medal for his contribution in the field of Medical education and research. He also received 'N Islam memorial gold medal 2016 by Bangladesh Society of Medicine for his contribution in the field of Internal medicine.
